Primary Directions in Morinus tutorial

This short step-by-step tutorial was created partly by Thomas Seay and partly by me.

  1. First, download the free program “Morinus”. Why? Because the calculations are complicated and so far this is the best way to use the technique.
  2. Unzip the program map and double-click on the file “Morinus” and the logo.
  3. Create birth charts in: Horoscopes > new and use longitude and latitude instead of birth town (for some reason it can have difficulties finding it). You can find the longitude and latitude if you have your charts in astro-seek.com or astro.com.
  4. Pick a planet that’s less than 90 degrees from your Sun. Let’s say Venus is below your rising sign and the Sun is in the 11th house. That would be the direction (the primary direction goes clockwise).
Venus would then be the “Promissor” and the Sun would be the Significator.
  5. Click on Option > Primary Direction
  6. Deselect all and then select Promissors and Significator that you want.
  7. -Select the type of aspect (for now choose conjunctions (Conjunction).
  8. -Select Placidus (Semi-Arc).
  9. -Select Zodiacal and Use Latitude of Both.
  10. -Under Zodiacal Options, Select Aspects of Promissors to Significators. Click “ok”.
  11. Now Click Options > Primary Keys
  12. -Select Static and from drop-down menu Select Naibod. After you have done this, click OK.
  13. Now Click on Tables > Primary Directions
  14. Select Age: 0-100 and Select Direct. Click Ok and a window with the results should pop-up!
